Now the UK is out of the EU we're getting flooded with BYD, Geely and all sorts of Chinese EVs

But the underlying fact here is that home charging carries VAT at 5% and everywhere else is VAT at 20% plus the premium that the providers charge

So barely cheaper than ICE vehicles plus having to wait ages when you need to charge in a public place- and at a price that costs more than filling up at a petrol station

Not great...
