Seems like many of the types who are used to having an "audience" find Mastodon doesn't scratch that itch for them, but still it's a fair point he makes.

I think it has even more power for most people if we change out "audience" for "community"

"I will never again devote my energies to building up a [community] on a platform whose management can sever my relationship to that [community] at will"
