I can't see the post this is responding to, but for the record, cars use what is called "safety glass" where if it breaks it shatters into small chunks that don't have sharp edges.

It's interesting that even some home things can use safety glass. I once tried to cut some glass to use in a project and took out an old cabinet's glass doors. I started to cut it and almost the instant the glass cutter touched it, there were tiny chunks of glass *everywhere*. (I was outside, but wow what a mess even so.) Like it sort of almost did explode, but none of it was sharp.
