this is not really a defense of Bluesky’s decentralisation, you can in theory self-host but in practice it’s expensive, complex and difficult. There are at least two third-party public “instances,” Blacksky and Northsky.
“bsky.social” *is in fact comprised multiple nodes* is what I mean by “experiencing decentralisation;” there’s a reason they made migrating a profile losslessly possible, as it aids in their own infrastructure scaling.
