See that's one of the things that pisses me off. A military response was arguably appropriate, but not *this* response -- there's no world where this level of destruction is the appropriate response to a terror attack.
If it had been me in charge, I would have sent in spec ops with orders to get the hostages back dead or alive, but not to so much as muss the hair of anyone not actively engaged in hostile action.
