One of the things I want to do with the Supermicro server when I get it fully operational is use it to make a large enough RAID 0 array to store an off-site backup of the network drives at work. But RAID 0 drives need to be all the same capacity, and I don't have enough 500 GB or 2 TB drives to do this, so I bought two of these "MDD" 2 TB SAS drives.
These are white-label "refurbished" drives, which basically means the SMART has been wiped and they could be in any state of health. But at $10 a pop, it's worth taking the chance just for the fun of it.
I've also heard bad things about the seller goHardDrive, although some people say they're better today than they used to be.
