we're getting there for sure. What we don't seem to have imo is a pending threat of violent governmental overthrow if one party doesn't win. We also don't have the same scale of voter suppression - "just" those dumbass voter ID laws. AFAIK also no mass infiltration of "true believers" who will dispute, object and make unworkable any voting decisions they don't like. That's not to say we're great, we are SO NOT, but I don't think we're staring down the barrel in the same way (yet).
