A recurring thought I've had since I was a teenager: most adults are emotionally children and thus useless / unavailable when you need to talk about Real Shit.
It's not even that adults coddle you when you're young, although that's the justification they use after the fact.
So many of them are just not mature enough to engage with serious topics, even when it obviously hurts them and their relationships.
They would rather ban people from ever talking about it.
