Interesting sidenote:
My daughter and her friends in secondary school (German 'Gymnasium') are in the 10th year now. In year 11 they have the opiton to go abroad for a couple of months or up to year.
Quite a few named the US as a goal. They quickly found out that they don't wanna go there cause it is too dangerous. Most parents I know wouldn't let them go there (me included).
That is a sad development.
