I guess everything that isn't satellite or laser based is going to vanish more or less

I like to hike, and think a map, on good waterproof paper, is essential, cause maps don't run out of power

The Applachian Mountain Club is the leading hiking org in the NE US, and their maps are the standard

and the AMC no longer prints them on good paper, but crappy "waterproof" stock that falls apart

The OS Benchmark Archive - memorials to how survey/mapping used to be done. Many of the original 500,000+ benchmarks are still there but they are disappearing.
If you have access they are on OS Maps Desktop too.
There is one on the wall at the bottom of our garden.
