I want self-sovereign zaps to be as easy as possible for the end-user as well. But I think some perspective is always good too.

In order to perform a Zap in the alternative fiat world, it would require opening an account with an institution, providing loads of identifying data and documentation, waiting several days for account opening and funds to be transferred, and requiring all parties that will be transferring funds to be a part of the same closed-system and go through the same process each.

While it may require a little technical knowledge in the beginning, this is a battle that can be won because the incumbent system is so disastrously bad in comparison.
