How’s the snowpack doing? Only 16” yesterday on Keystone Ridge. Deep cold plus thin snowpack doesn’t bode well for buried pipes (or hibernating wildlife). AKDOT temperature depth probe (TPS) data shows (literally) deep cold. Below shows temperature (°F) vs. Depth (surface to 72 inch) from the Parks Hwy at the Chena River. Subsurface is frozen with a relatively low conductivity-full effect won’t be seen until May/June.
