All that theology is from Plato's writings and was used to backwards rationalise a theology out of the BuyBull.

As to the snake, many early Christians (eg. Naassenes, Ophites, Sethians, etc) equated the snake with Christ and the crucifixion with the staff of Moses (Nehushtan).

Never mind that the Sanhedrin had the authority to execute any Jews they wanted according to their own laws (by burning, stoning, strangling, etc), and had absolutely no need to defer to Roman authorities if they wanted Jesus dead for blasphemy (a capital offence). The Romans allowed them to self-govern this way until the extremist Jews went on their murdering spree and the revolt they incited was crushed by Titus in 70CE. Ergo the story is symbolic fiction, not to be taken literally. Of course you'd probably know this if you spent any time studying the surrounding history and cultural context of the book instead of just regurgitating it like a brainless parrot.
