and i think it's because humans gonna human
and by that i mean, there's always gonna be a subset who are going to try to grab too much for themselves, upset the balances. fuck everything up
the boom-and-bust of technology busts because the people who are enriched, enstatused, empowered by the tech try to grab more. humans gonna human.
and the crash plays out the same, more or less, because humans gonna human.
plato was right, and i'm right. humans gonna human and that's the crack in every idea of a perfect society. we can aim for fully automated luxury gay space communism but there will always be elmos, there will always be trumps, there will always be some shit-tick who realizes he (always *he*) can get more if only he fucks some people over.
the problem is that this time the tech cycle has gone on long enough to *really* bone us. fifty million years of stored sunlight, gone in a century, spent, and for what? to boil the planet and make three guys richer than anyone, ever.
