FWIW ctrl to capslock was worse than the default ctrl position for me. what helped was swapping super and ctrl, i would think about doing the following remap today:
ctrl in the place of alt
alt in the place of super
super in the place of ctrl
so rather than ctrl super alt, you now have super alt ctrl.
