It isn't always reliable but it's a measure already used across palliative and end-of-life care (and thus in social care, benefits, and all sorts).

One might ask why it's good enough to determine when you can get a syringe driver to mange your pain, or when you or your partner get certain support approved if it ain't good enough for allowing someone who has a terminal illness to say it's time to let them end their life
