Doing something wild like having ants be important characters AND wanting to keep the story grounded has been giving me anxiety but I also have not really articulated that tension or challenge ... instead just hoping it would work out.
I know people struggle to relate to insects, but that's part of why I'm doing this. The space ants are deeply alien. But they have goals, they have values. They make surprising choices that I hope will make the reader question if their morality is superior.
