I'm logging off and possibly for the better part of the week so just to reiterate: you can say systemd is ass but I think that's easily disputed. you can say redhat is behaving in their interest but that's kind of a truism. "redhat made bad software and tricks people into using it" is a retarded fucking rhetoric though I wish I didn't have to hear from otherwise reasonable people. there's probably a billion approaches to this that doesn't involve calling for the impossible in holocausting redhat and then every other color of hat that comes after to keep computing in 1990. taken further, maybe there's actually no issue with this and there's a clear limit to systemd's encroachment. maybe I'm wrong about the underlying issues and we can do our own badly coded monolithic init service management suite with gnus and hookers to no detriment. maybe we live in kali yuga and there's no conceivable way to prevent this. please anything but "da computer joos!!"
