I think I'll tell you a bit of the Illusion they created and how they have done it.
For the Illusion to work they must create a psycological battle within the mind.
On the most basic principles the mind is binary making decision based on one of two decisions.

It fucks with your sleep and animals you may feed.

No shit, you let them fuck up your sleep and sycadium rythm that causes undue stress on the body and mind of the human.
Why, because they told you eveyone was doing it?
We're going to save whale blubber or something?
That by design, sends and emotional resonse through an entire population of people.
They will tell you, it's just one hour and nothing to worry about.
They create mass distress in the populous.

If done properly it should only take about two weeks to stabilize.
This is one of many tactics they use to control your emotions.
