The museum is worth a visit. I spoke to one of the curators afterwards, trying to feel my way towards asking whether the essentially European, therefore white, aspects of the shipwrecks, representing various colonial or mercantile powers, left out the original inhabitants of the area.
She felt that the wrecks themselves influenced so much in the area, from leaving names (Arniston is named after the ship that went down there) to founding families in some areas...
