When I got from #Prague to ATX ~10 years ago, I was impressed by how young, healthy and wealthy the people and the city felt there.
By now, the first thing that smacks Americans (even Austinates, and myself) into the face when coming to the summer Prague is how much younger, healthier, wealthier and *happier* the people in the city are.
Maybe it's my vacation buzz, but the contrast in the happiness is so vivid to me.
A big corollary I see here is the difference in the wealth concentration across the two. While there's undeniably been great opportunities and wealth creation in ATX over last decade, it seems increasingly more concentrated to the few. In Prague, it's been more distributed.
Another corollary - the breadth and quality of the services. In the US, it's hard to find a good service, yet they demand minimum 20% tips. In Prague, if you avoid the tourist traps and don't behave like the bad kind of tourist, you can get anything you ask for.
