couldn't we have something like versions of Linux for OTT devices and cars that were managed by a consortium of interested parties that don't want to be dictated to by Google and Apple? they could be made to work great with whatever mobile device it was talking to. enough participants and they'd have to deal. and they could go to court or lobby the government.
