Also of note in context, my favourite Zelda game, Link's Awakening, got some inspiration from Twin Peaks. I had no idea when I first played it, as I'd barely even heard about Twin Peaks then, but when I read about it years later in an interview with Takashi Tezuka, I thought yeah, I can see that now. Weird ass characters in a small town, eery atmosphere all around... that checks out. These are some of the things I like about it too so I'm grateful for that.
