I mean we don't, the point of Flatpak is to only have one system, and devs only have to target one platform to reach all distros. Snap is proprietary and I ignore it. Flatpak is not. AppImage is a great idea but with a maintainer who isn't interested in, well, maintaining.

Distro packaging is both not a scalable approach and is poor practice from a security perspective. Every app and every update is a potential supply chain attack, and the apps themselves are not sandboxed.
