the window is opening to take up the full screen without being full screen? full screen height? macOS 26.x? I have found if you drag a window close to the edges of the screen such that the window server gives you suggested window snapping to a quarter or half of the screen then on occasion the window will try and go back to that place/size even if you've resized it.
