Exactly, everyone remains entirely free to not use these badges or to use them in addition to other ones. For example, I registered a #nostrplebs identifier because I find it to be a very useful and reliable tool for finding and connection with other Bitcoiners and it inspired me to offer additional ones that serve a similar but slightly different purpose. They’re complimentary in the same way that the badges I’m offering are complimentary to the upcoming orange check feature in Damus, to offer another example.
