I would note that right wing ideas are not about making sense, they're about manipulation. and they work.

fighting emotion manipulation with education and reason is like fighting bushfire with education and reasoning. doesn't mean we abandon education and reasoning, we just also need to use fire or that which extinguishes fire and prevents it from starting.
