When I click on a Mastodon link from within Mastodon, they sometimes get opened in a new browser tab on the home server of that link. I'm logged out on that server (naturally), but even though I'm still logged in on the *original* tab, I can't comment or upvote on the *new* tab.
Why? That kind of breaks Mastodon!
