I don’t know enough about Swiss demographics. I think of it as a fairly homogenous place, with a population comparable to New York City. Politically, NYC is a much tougher nut to govern than Switzerland, I’ll wager. Look how much fun was had with the plebiscite to elect Mamdani (a good outcome, perhaps). Can you imagine a national debate in the U.S. over a Constitutional change?
