embrace, extend, extinguish. For-profit entities engage with open standards only as long as they can leverage it as a means to render the open standard inferior and leverage its inferiority to undermine it. The classic example is Microsoft, but Discord originally supported IRC bridging until they had effectively replaced IRC on the market is a more recent example.

Plus, I don't want to feed the data machine that is every corporate social network.
