What fascinates me about Rowling I think is that she has always been so conservative (in the worst sense) without comprehending that's what she is.
She seems to be the kind of person who mistakes being slightly "progressive" within a conservative cultural context with being actually inclusive & open-minded.
I think this is part of the reason I can't quite give up mulling over the legacy of Harry Potter. These books were written by a woman who—at the time—profoundly misunderstood herself.
