Mercy (Christian)
Mercy is not getting what we deserve. We often confuse it with grace: grace is getting what we don't deserve; mercy is being spared what we do. When we receive mercy, we're invited to extend it—to withhold the harsh word, to forgive the debt, to see the person behind the offense. Gratitude for mercy softens the heart. Remembering how much we've been forgiven makes it possible to forgive others.
