Thanks for the offer! There is consensus that we should improve this. We also know that we want to use chips to display tags at the top of the subscriptions page, in order to enable filtering. There are some mock-ups, but the exact UX hasn't been nailed down yet. If you're interested in submitting a PR, we can get this moved ahead.
