Mostly just based on logistics. I carry my Muji fountain pen in the pen loop of my planner because it's slim and sturdy. Two Lamy Safaris live in the pen loops of Filofaxes for carry in my bag too. Chunky Twsbi Ecos stay in my pen pouch for journaling, as does my Sailor Procolour, because it's my most expensive pen and I'd be sad if I lost it around town.
