I've long espoused my “casserole theory”:
I grew up in a neighborhood full of conservative William F. Buckley fans. But, if someone had a difficult time: hospitalization, death in family, new child, etc.: you always made a casserole & took it over.
SOCIAL SERVICES ARE JUST GIVING PEOPLE THOSE CASSEROLES MORE EFFICIENTLY AND AT SCALE.
If you are against expanding social services, you're just saying people in need must be judged for worthiness of aid.
