The rhetoric amis to create a sense of urgency & fear in the community. The attack capitalizes on game theory where miners will chase easy bucks as the chain splits and BIP110 fork prints blocks much quicker (given that hashrate it'll likely have will be much less than legacy chain). It's a nasty way to pull through changes and reeks with desperation. It's not that I support spam, but a group of people doing this kind of shit has my trust in them broken.
