By the end of my internship year, his tough exterior had melted, replaced with an easy humor, thoughtful conversations, & hard-earned respect (as much as a highly esteemed psychologist could respect a lowly intern). That was the most meaningful part of my internship.
Today I learned that he had been quite ill the last couple of years. In very bad shape. I hadn’t known. A great man laid low. My heart breaks for his family & I wish I had kept in touch better. I regret losing touch.
