5e: yes - but also you can't be charismatic or you'll be underpowered

5e: this is a carefully-balanced RPG, remember? if you're overpowered you'll overshadow all of the other players and they'll resent you. if you're underpowered you might *permanently die* and even if you don't you'll be a drain on the other players' resources and they'll resent you

5e: you'll be dextrous and intelligent. that is the only valid character option if you want to be at an appropriate power level

5e: 50% of this game is going to feel like filling out tax paperwork to you - and in the other 50% you'll be forced to roleplay as a character that has almost no resemblance to the one you wanted to make
