Those born into "low" status should be able to rise if they prove themselves "worthy" to their betters, through education prescribed to them by their betters, through creating wealth for their betters, etc.

That's the American experiment. It replaced blood line aristocracy with capital wealth.

And it failed. It continues to fail.

It led to a civil war, which consolidated power to one group.

It led to multiple recessions and depressions.

It kills millions every year.
