yup - first ones that come to mind are a local synthpop/post-punk band whose singer died way too young; the band of a guy my dad worked with whose CD I was lent to review and copy to tape when I was 12 (they were also stopped by an untimely death); and the odd MySpace artist whose song I downloaded and still have on a hard drive somewhere.
