We observe the same kind of behaviour when people put their static blogs behind Anubis "my website *has to be* protected with something" — but at least that is free and self-hosted.
Same with putting everything in a container, implementing CI/CD and reproducible builds for their projects consisting of two source files… All this contributes to the sheer complexity of modern technology — people are attempting to solve problems they don't even fully understand and they might never even run into, this introduces going for "enterprise grade" solutions even for tiny scale things 😩
