I don't think I talk 'posh' as a Northerner who has moved around a bit, my accent flexes! If I'm with friends and family, I speak very differently to when I'm speaking to a Dr, or any professional. If I want to assert myself I can be very clear with a neutral accent!
I guess you might call it 'code shifting' something I know lots of POC have to adopt,
