I share some of that cynicism. Ex-Presidents are no less a political creature than any other. Furthermore, there is no doubt politics today is dominated by dark money provided by the super-rich. So surely that affects their calculus.
But I continue to believe the members of the ex-President’s club have a higher obligation to the nation. It is disappointing.
