Hiking Lila Lake part 5. Photos 1-2: the trees in this area are mountain hemlocks and there some whoppers up here. Looking at a toppled trunk you can see how they grow in a spiral pattern. Photos 3 & 4: here's one of my favorite plants, Lewisia columbiana, named after Merriweather Lewis. It just loves to grow on boulders in mid elevation clearings.
