Okay now I've got 4 years of school running lathes, mills, grinders, etc. I'm gonna venture to guess here that if there's one of us that could have a chance of making a piston that lasts more than 20 minutes, it'd be me.
But I ain't fucking around with that shit. Even if I wanted to build an ICE, I'm not gonna go making engine parts like a Cuban, I'll go pluck an LS out of a junkyard.
I gather you're talking about some kind of societal collapse where junkyards don't exist anymore - but Where Are You Getting Gas?
Don't give me corn ethanol bullshit, it's such a pain in the ass to make, nobody does that. You're better off with wood gas, but then what's your plan to get an oil change? Even in an End Of The World scenario, I'd rather an EV and a dozen solar panels.
