It's easier to machine a chunk of cast iron into a cude piston rather than to wind copper at a near-microscopic level. I think just based on that alone you will never be able to price or availability compete on drivetrain components. Besides which, those electric vehicle componenets are going to be recycled for their copper and ruin the used / salvage parts market.
