yeah, i'll tinker with the cables question, that's the most likely suspect i think
other device in the other port (card has 2) has 10gbit speed but only several HID devices plugged in, i might even try seeing, short phat cable that came with drive, plus relocate these pansy HID devices to one of the onboard USB sockets
