I disagree. Voting for either of the duopoly parties in a non-swing state could be considered a "wasted" vote. But voting for a "third- party" candidate in a non- swing state could have the potential of helping to develop a new third party safely.

The Electoral College gives us this one advantage. We'd be fools not to take advantage of it.
