This “cybersecurity” push from a bunch of “Western” governments keeps rearing its ugly head. It’s misguided and underscores just how difficult it is for governments to both balance concerns and have a firm grasp of the technology issues involved. A generous take is that the metaphors we use to explain this stuff lead to assumptions that just aren’t true. (A less generous take is there’s some Big Brother-y stuff behind the desire)
