It really depended where you lived. I went to 23 different schools in the '70s and '80s between kindergarten and college, because I lived a whole lot of places.
As a child we had state or county funded clinics in some areas, not in others.
Later when I was on my own I usually had to rely on Planned Parenthood for basic things like antibiotics.
